Originally settled in 1783 by the "Loyalists" escaping the revolutionary war, Green Turtle is one of the most historical of the Out islands.

New Plymouth, Green Turtle's main settlement, with its brightly painted homes, may remind you of a quaint New England town.

In the town you'll find the Albert Lowe Museum documenting the history of the island, and a Sculpture Garden with bronze busts of famous Bahamian's living and deceased, along with many historical homes.
